Deep within the captivating rolling hills, resided a boy named Shepherd. His life was untarnished, and unsophisticated. His primary duty was to care for his herd of rams.
Their low murmuring and the rustling of the breezes through the single tree on the peak were his main associates. Day after day, looking out for his responsibilities inculcated in him a feeling of calm satisfaction.
However, there were at times moments of loneliness, when the shepherd boy would long for companionship. In one such instance out of sheer monotony, the shepherd boy conceived a troublesome plot.
Stories of predators hunting on sheep had been around for a while in the village. So, the boy chose to used this fear and played a trick on the inhabitants.
One day he dashed into the village screaming “Wolf! A wolf is that has taken click here my sheep!” The scared villagers ran up the hills to help but saw no wolf.
The boy chuckled at the puzzle on their faces. This game laughed for a couple of more days. However, one morning, a real wolf actually charge at the grazing sheep. The shepherd boy raced for aid shouting “Wolf, Wolf!” But this time, no one showed up.
Frustrated and alone, the boy fought against the wolf but managed to rescue only few of his flock. Heartbroken, he returned to the village only to receive a lesson on honesty and the results of crying wolf.
His tale of this shepherd boy has been transmitted generations as a mediaeval parable to teaching the significance of honesty, the implications of dishonesty and the perils of crying wolf. Moreover, it highlights how trust once lost, is difficult to reclaim. It's a story as pertinent today as it was then.
